Between our broad in-house capabilities and our robust supply chain, we offer clients a single source for a range of engineering design services – from project inception through to handover.
We have the skills and experience to understand and deliver your brief in line with your budget and programme constraints. We are skilled at developing client remits and providing engineering innovation that considers both the end product and buildability.
To provide a portfolio of base information to underpin the design, we produce the scopes and manage the surveys and investigations process including; topographical, gauge, non-destructive, intrusive, geotechnical, ecological and traffic management. We have strong relationships with survey companies that can react quickly to provide necessary data.
Single Point of Contact
Our projects are multi-disciplinary and our supply chain enables us to act as a single point of contact for building services, telecommunications, OLE, track and signals services in addition to architecture, civil and structural engineering. Our lead designers are skilled at integrating multiple disciplines to optimise design with the use of BIM tools.
We manage all the disciplines engaged in our projects unless there is a benefit of operating a more open forum. You can also expect us to manage the delivery programme and report on the impact of design changes to both programme and budget. We can also engage cost consultants to provide project estimations.
In the rail sector we have been accepted in the South East, Western and LNW routes to act in the CEM and CRE roles for the design. We are employed by national contractors to undertake this role and to provide site support to ensure the design is implemented on site.
Our engineering teams are well versed in the industry’s latest innovations and our strong links with product suppliers means that our designs are a true representation of the end product. We also produce 3D visualisations, when required, to help all stakeholders interpret and understand our designs.

Recent Projects
Bishops Stortford Station - NSIP Scheme
VEDA were employed by Spence to act as Lead Design for the redevelopment of existing station buildings to provide a new retail & ticket office building. In addition to our in-house designers, VEDA engaged our supply chain to deliver the Telecoms, Mechanical & electrical, and Fire disciplines.
Kings Cross Station - Northern Building
VEDA were employed by Spence as lead consultants for the complete strip out and refurbishment of the Grade I listed Northern Building. In collaboration with English Heritage the listed building conditions for structural alteration, internal & external finishes, services, demolition and salvage were met and discharged.
